Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
