Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to force a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
